Yes. Background removal and downloads are free, with no credits, payments or watermark. Fair-use limits on file size, request rate and capacity keep the service available for everyone.
Do I need to register?
No. Upload, edit and download without creating an account.
Can I download without a watermark?
Yes. RMBG.me never adds a watermark. Single images download at the original size of the photo up to 16 megapixels, and the exact size is shown above the Download button.
Which image formats are supported?
You can upload JPG, PNG, WebP and iPhone HEIC photos; large photos are resized in your browser for a fast upload. Download the result as a transparent PNG, a JPG or a WebP, with an optional file size limit (for example under 100 KB) for online forms.
How long does background removal take?
Most images are ready in a few seconds. The page shows the real status while your image is queued or being processed, so busy moments can take a little longer.
Will my image be stored?
Only briefly. Uploaded images are used to remove the background and are deleted automatically after the retention time shown under the upload box (currently 60 minutes); expired results cannot be downloaded. Your recent results and saved settings stay only in your own browser, where you can clear them.
Can I change the background to a colour or another photo?
Yes. Pick white, black or any colour, blur the original background, upload your own photo, or choose a ready-made studio, tabletop, sky or gradient scene. You can add a soft or floor shadow so the subject does not look pasted on.
Can I make a passport or visa photo?
Yes. Choose Passport / ID for 35 × 45 mm, 2 × 2 in, US DV Lottery, Canada, China, Japan, Malaysia or UAE sizes on a white background, line the face up with the guides, and print many copies on A4 or 4 × 6 in paper. Always check the official rules of the office you apply to.
Does it work on phones?
Yes. RMBG.me works in any modern mobile browser, opens iPhone HEIC photos and can be installed as an app. On Android you can share photos to it straight from your gallery.
Can I use the results commercially?
You may use results where you have the necessary rights to the original image and its contents. RMBG.me does not grant rights to people, trademarks or copyrighted works shown in your image.
Why are some image edges imperfect?
Fine hair, glass, shadows, overlapping subjects and low contrast can be difficult for AI. Use the Erase / restore brush to fix small areas, or try a clearer source photo.
