Make your PDF small enough to upload.

Shrink a PDF for email or an online form. Text stays sharp and selectable while the photos inside are made smaller, and a size limit such as “Under 1 MB” is met automatically.

How do I reduce a PDF to under 1 MB?

Add the PDF, choose “Under 1 MB” as the file size and press Compress PDF. The tool first makes the photos inside smaller; if that is not enough, it saves the pages as compressed images until the file fits.

Will the text stay sharp?

Yes. Normally only the photos inside the PDF are made smaller; text, lines and links are left exactly as they are. Only when a very small limit cannot be met that way are pages saved as images, and the tool tells you when that happens.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The PDF is opened and compressed in your browser with open-source pdf.js and pdf-lib, and it never reaches our server.

Why did my PDF not get much smaller?

PDFs made of text compress very little because text is already small. The biggest savings come from scans and documents with photos. If your file is already as small as it can be, the tool offers the original unchanged.

Can I compress a password-protected PDF?

Yes. Enter the password to open it. The compressed copy is saved without the password, as page images.
